Reference Number: ARL-SRP-00047
Project Description
Dependable and durable power resources are a critical asset for current and future battlefields. Diversifying power resources is a critical attribute for the ever growing technical and tactical applications. Anticipating these challenges, this project explores the amalgamation of non-traditional power producing technologies and tests the results with large power requirements, like directed energy.
This project is designed for up to 2 students, with each pursuing real-world STEM applications and experiences. The 2 topics: (1) Energy generation: learn about a power resource (s) and how they’re hybridized into a coherent electrical source. (2) Energy management: learn about meeting load requirements and how exploiting environmental opportunities can improve system optimization. Pending availability, the integration of AI into the evaluation process will be explored. Finally, all work will be documented, and a presentation will be provided to the local ARL workforce.
