Reference Number: DEVCOM-087
Project Description
This research’s objective is to enable capabilities for local power production using non-traditional energy options. This project will have participants explore, fabricate, and characterize materials to generate electrical power from alternative fuels using fuel cell technologies. The project also will explore different pathways to synthesize alternative fuels in the laboratory. Participants will learn how to perform these experiments and calculate system-level efficiencies to help the team design an Army-relevant solution for in-field power. Portions of the project are suitable for computer simulations and modelling, participants could work in that area if they have the necessary skills. All visiting researchers operate as part of the team and are expected to communicate, assist, and contribute to the success of the whole project. Participants will be exposed to Army power and energy problems and will help develop transformative solutions for the future battlefield.
