Reference Number: ARL-SRP-00048
Project Description
Directed energy [DE] on a battlefield has a built-in adversary called the atmosphere. Learn why this is so, through an atmospheric characterization study. Prove a ‘coherent’ DE solution can prevail 2x/day. (up to 2 students)
During the Internship’s session, the student will investigate high energy laser [HEL] systems and atmospheric impacts on the HEL through environmental data preparation, analyses and interpretation. Pending available time, the processed data will be integrated into a military HEL model. The basic data analyses will contribute to a publishable dataset characterization. Finally, all work will be presented to the local ARL workforce.
