Project Description
Problem: sUAS operating as autonomous, unattended devices have limited power resources; typically limited to the sUAS integral battery. An additional complicating factor is that any solution must be remotely deliverable to the area the sUAS will operate.
Project Objective: Design an air-deliverable (dropped from a large quadcopter) sUAS recharging station that self-deploy on the ground, provide two full recharge cycles to a sUAS, and recharge its own power bank using solar energy technology.
The work the participant will perform: Create system and subsystem specification, identify key material, create mechanical and electric engineering diagrams, create prototypes of critical system components, air delivery and power regeneration.
Methods, tools, or technologies that may be used: Solid Works and KiCAD Electrical and mechanical design applications.
Expected Outcome and Deliverable: Prototype electrical and mechanical solutions for key components of the solution.
