Reference Number: ARL-SRP-00092
Project Description
Many advanced AI algorithms require simulated environments to develop, test, and validate the performance and behavior of AI algorithms, especially those that interact or move within the surrounding environment. DEVCOM ARL has developed a simulator focused on testing and evaluating control methods for pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) cameras. This summer project will focus on enhancing the metrics the simulator can calculate as well as extending the simulation capabilities. Interested interns may also work on porting the existing simulation capabilities to alternative simulation engines (Unreal, or Nvidia Omniverse). The aim at the end of the summer will be to either improve the qualitative of performance measures that can be used to evaluate control policies for PTZ cameras during object search or to increase the variety and variability of test, development and evaluation environments to evaluate these control policy methods.
Required skill Set: Willingness to learn new things.
Requested Skill Sets: Experience with C++/C# (strongly preferred), experience with python is helpful, computer vision, unity or some other game engine development, ROS or opencv will be beneficial.
