Project Description
Directed energy on a battlefield has a built-in countermeasure called the atmosphere. Learn why this is so, through an atmospheric characterization study. Prove a ‘coherent’ DE solution can prevail 2x/day.
During the Internship’s x-week session, the student will investigate high energy laser systems, the atmospheric optical turbulence data background (who, what, where, when, and why), how to programmatically read, perform basic data preparations, and graphically display the data. A basic data analysis will enable a written description characterization of the given dataset. This description should include, but not be limited to, daily and seasonal summaries. Finally, all work will be documented, and a presentation will be provided to the local ARL workforce.
